The Sardinia Grand Slam has returned its verdict. Axel Mazella is the new Kite Foil World Champion. After 4 days of racing, the Frenchman only needed to firmly keep his fourth place to overcome the former world leader, Toni Vodisek, in the general classification.
Nothing could have been done even by the compatriots fighting at the Poetto in Cagliari. First of all Theo De Ramecourt, who returns home with the most deserved victory of the Sardinia Grand Slam. To Nico Parlier, winner of the Sardinian stage in 2018 and world champion in 2017, second place was not enough. After losing the title last year in the direct battle with Maxime Nocher, this year he had to settle again for the silver medal (both at the Sardinia Grand Slam and in the World ranking).
Nocher, Kite Foil World Champion in 2018, failed to replicate last year’s great performance. He finished fifth in his test in Sardinia and closed the Kite Foil World Series on the third step of the podium.

In the female category finally the formality: Daniela Moroz is the new world champion of Kite Foil. Behind him the French Nico Parlier, thanks to the success in the last race of the day, grabs the British Connor Bainbridge in second place (at 34 points). Fourth is the European Formula Kite champion Axel Mazella who with 39 points remains in the fight for a place on the podium. The world champion Maxime Nocher is now almost out of the fight for the medal, fifth at 67 points.
The American Daniela Moroz continues to dominate the women’s ranking. There are now only tomorrow’s races to separate her from the world title, but math is on her side. Not happy, he continues to climb the overall standings, taking 16th place with 212 points.
We recall that tomorrow, at Poetto, the winner of the Sardinia Grand Slam 2019 and the new Kite Foil World Champion will be crowned. The skipper meeting is scheduled at 10.00 with a possible departure from 11.00.

The second day of racing of the 2019 edition of the Sardinia Grand Slam, the last stage of the Kite Foil World Series, promoted by the International Kiteboarding Association and organized by Good Looking Entertainment and Yacht Club Cagliari, has just ended at the Poetto in Cagliari.
Unchanged the trend seen yesterday in the day of debut. With two successes on five races, and a total of 22 points, the French Theo De Ramecourt is firmly at the top of the provisional standings.

The regattas at the Poetto in Cagliari – for the 2019 edition of the Sardinia Grand Slam, the last stage of the Kite Foil World Series, promoted by the International Kiteboarding Association and organized by Good Looking Entertainment and Yacht Club Cagliari – have started.
The rehearsals, six throughout the day, started at lunchtime, after the skippers’ meeting at 11.00, with gusts of wind that fluctuated between 22 and 30 knots. In the first four races the scenario seen last week at the Formula Kite European Championship and in the other three rounds of the Kite Foil World Series repeated: the Slovenian Toni Vodisek against the strongest French athletes arrived in Sardinia.
It was a heads-up match between Vodisek, Theo De Ramecourt, Axel Mazella (fresh winner of the European title) and Nico Parlier, winner of the 2018 edition of the Sardinia Grand Slam.
At the end of the fourth race the Slovenian was first in the partial classification but the two missed starts in the fifth and sixth race, due to the breaking of the bridle given the strong wind, relegated him to fourteenth position leaving the temporary podium in the hands of France. So we have Theo De Ramecourt first with 11 points, second Axel Mazella with 13 and third Nico Parlier with 15.
First among the Italians has been the very young Lorenzo Boschetti, author of a constant test that earned him the 13th right above the current leader of the Kite Foil World Series, Vodisek.
In the women’s category, on the other hand, the forecasts have been kept from day one: Daniela Moroz wins and convinces! The US, after having dominated the Sardinia Grand Slam 2018, the European Formula Kite and presented herself in Cagliari as the undisputed leader of the Kite Foil World Series, dominated today’s races.
She has finished 18th in the overall standings, with 83 points, leaving the Polish Julia Damasiewicz, second in the women’s rankings, with 34 points behind her and putting a serious mortgage on winning the world title!
Among the Italians the best result is that of Irene Tari, 41st in the overall standings, who had already made her mark on the occasion of the recent European Formula Kite.

Cagliari is ready to welcome the strongest international champions of Kite Foil, the new Olympic discipline, from October 2nd to 6th, the Sardinia Grand Slam, the world final of the Kitefoil World Championship, promoted by the ‘International Kiteboarding Association and organized by Good Looking Entertainment and Yacht Club Cagliari.
Over 80 athletes from all the continents of the world are going to meet again in the Sardinian capital for what has now become a “classic” in the international Kite Foil scene. It is in fact the third year that the world champions of this discipline are crowned in Cagliari that we remind has been included by World Sailing as a sailing class that is going to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After two years of victories by the French Nico Parlier, ruler of the Sardinia Grand Slam 2018 but mocked last year in the overall standings by the current reigning world champion Maxime Nocher, the challenge is this year even more interesting.
Surprisingly, in fact, the absolute ruler of the Kite Foil World Series 2019 is the very young Slovenian kiter Toni Vodisek, winner of the first three stages of the World Championship, silver medal at the Youth Olympics of Buenos Aires in 2018.
The Sardinia Grand Slam was preceded by Torregrande’s Formula Kite European Championship, which was staged within the Open Water Challenge 2019. On that occasion Vodisek was passed on the last day of racing by the French Axel Mazella.
The missed European title reveals the very high competitive level that we will see in the water during the Sardinia Grand Slam. It will be a battle to try to take away a title from the Slovenian, that he won’t certainly have until Sunday October 6th.
Turning to women, the 2018 title went to Kirstyn Obrien, author of a not particularly brilliant performance at Poetto but rewarded by perseverance and by what was done during the first two stages of the KiteFoil World Series. To enchant the Sardinian public was the very young American Daniela Moroz, who this year presents herself as the athlete to beat, above all from the impressive performance at the Absolute European Championship.

The Sardinia Grand Slam Back Again!
Cagliari, August, 27, 2019 The IKA Kite Foil World Series is ready to return for the third consecutive year in Italy, in what is now globally recognized as one of the best locations to practice kiteboard in the world, Sardinia. From 2 to 6 October, the Poetto’s beach of Cagliari will be the scene of 2019 edition of the Sardinia Grand Slam World Championship, the third stage of the KiteFoil World Series!
Once again all the strongest kite athletes will arrive in the Sardinian capital, joined in the desire to win the World Title 2019.
After two years of victory by the French Nico Parlier, ruler of Sardinia Grand Slam 2018 but mocked last year in the general result by the current World Champion Maxime Nocher, the challenge has risen up again this year.
In addition to Parlier, Nocher and well-known KiteFoil champions such as Mazelle, Bainbridge, De Ramecourt and Gruber, fighting for the world title, joins the young Slovenian Toni Vodisek, who at only 19 years has already won the first stage of the race that took place from 24 to 28 July in Gizzeria.
Moving on to women, the 2018 title went to Kirstyn Obrien, author of a not particular brilliant performance at the Poetto but rewarded by the constancy and by what she has done at the first two stages of the KiteFoil World Series.

Soon will be held the two Chinese stages of Weifang and Pingtan, now considered a “cult ”of the Kite Foil World Series, to getting the overall ranking updated and figure out which athletes will compete to bring home the 2019 World Title at the Poetto’s beach in Cagliari.
